Restoring correct 3d to UE3 games - only text/UI is stereo

Post by artox »

The games I have tested with are :
Enslaved, King's Quest and Deadlight.
The issue is that with newer drivers some elements (text and UI) render in 3d whereas everything else does not due to the game not using the correct stereo profile for textures.
The solution is simple enough once you discover it:

Open Nvidia Inspector, find the game in question,
set StereoProfile to ON and StereoTextureEnable to 0x00000027 (Monster Hunter Frontier Benchmark, ....etc.) and apply.
Additionally in the shortcut or exe properties settings in compatibility set the game to Disable fullscreen optimizations and Run as admin.

In addition apply the Helixmod fixes to get the perfect 3d.

Please note that if you update the drivers or reinstall nvidia inspector adjustments are lost.

Thank you so much ! It had been a long time since I noticed that games under unreal engine 3 were no longer launching in 3D but I had not found any other solution than to launch them under Windows 7

It works by only doing the part about Nvidia Inspector.

For what it's worth, this is exactly the kind of stuff that PaulDusler has been fixing in 3DFM forever. For Deadlight and Enslaved, I just looked, and the profile in 3DFM/HelixVision will automatically install the proper .nip inspector file, which fixes this problem. Enslaved is VR compatible, and will just work when using HelixVision.

Always OK and good to know how to do stuff manually, but be sure to use all the tools available.

For Kings Quest doesn't seem to be setting those flags, which is the flip side of 3DFM/HelixVision, there can be bugs in the profiles, or stuff that has changed and not yet been updated. We update 3DFM profiles as we find errors, so they are always getting fixes and improvements.
