geo-11 dgVoodoo2 Cold Waters - Issue (now fixed in 0.6.38)

Post by BazzaLB »

I am trying to get steam game "cold waters" to work via VoodooDG / geo-11 combination as its a DX9 32bit game. It is Unity 5.4 so I am just trying an existing fix for Shadow Tactics to see how it looks. I am using SBS output.

I get the main menu appearing in both eye views but not much else. The main game graphics appear just on the left hand side. Is there a common "fix" that I can try for this?

Well are you trying to turn it into a DX11 game from DX9?? If not you need not use DGVooDoo.. you can not use a fix from another game that may be causing your one eye issue..

a little more info on what you are trying to achieve here would be good as I don't think you need to use DGVooDoo..

hmmm, what info do you want? Its a DX9 game and I want to use geo-11 because I am trying to run it on my 3080. I got rid of the fix by using a default ini but it looks the same. FWIW Shadow tactics is also a Unity 5.4 game so I didnt just pick a random game to try. I just thought this might be a common issue and there might be some ini settings to try. If not, no probs.

I already tried universal fix, that was my first port of call.. It has same issue.

well I am trying to find out why you are using DGVooDoo? that will convert the game from DX9 to DX11 is that your intention? Yes if you use a fix from another game but thing is if there are shaders in the shaderfix folder they may interfere with the new game as those shaders where to fix the other game..

I would eliminate DGVoodoo if you want to keep it a DX9 game with Geo 11. as for the one eyed effect it could be the DX11 conversion messing it up.. there should be no reason the main menu should show in both left and right view..

I looked up the game on Steam and they wanted 39bucks for the game well if it was a bit cheaper I might have picked it up and messed a bit with it but you are on the right path just keep messing with it.. post your progress I and others hopefully will get you on track..

Thanks for the response :)

I am a little confused though as geo-11 is dx11 only and therefore I need dgVoodoo in order to actually be able to convert the dx9 game to dx11 (not just use geo-11 dx9 output path as I am just using SBS anyway) in order for geo-11 to work its magic as well as then use a dx11 fix . I dont see how I can eliminate dgvoodoo from the equation for my 3080 on 516+ drivers.

I agree, its more than likely dgvoodoo introducing an issue but being as the only fixes for Unity would be dx11 and others had some success with dx9>dx11 conversion fixes I thought I would give it a go as an outside chance :)

Cheers.

OK that is fine just making sure you wanted to use the DX11 fix.. the thing is if you want to get that main menu fixed you will need to enable Hunting in the d3dx.ini file. that way you can enable Migoto Zero on the numpad then press F9 to see if the main menu goes to both right and left views..

other then the main menu not working were you able to get into the game and have 3D working..

EDIT: for the one eye issue try enabling 3d migoto and get the overlay working itwill be green text on the top and bottom of the screen and then see what the convergence is set at I had a similar issue and the convergance was at some astronomical number and ?I had to turn it down manually and then save the settings..

Also see step 3from the HelixBlog, for Geo - 11:

3) Edit the d3dx.ini file, and change force_stereo=2. That turns on the geo-11 code.

OK, I decided to try this on my old 1080ti 452.06 machine. dgvoodoo combined with shadow tactics 3dmigoto 32bit dx11 fix works nicely actually on that machine. Background is 2d, but game becomes 3d when you enter missions and looks good (TAB output shown)

I then added in geo-11 0.6.24 into the mix and thats where things go awry with left eye so it seems geo-11 is the cause of the issue in this case (unless I am missing something). Being as the exercise was to try and get cold waters onto my 3080 box (due to frame rate) I guess for the moment this isn't feasable.

did you enable TAB in Migoto and did you also enable force_stereo = 2 in the ini file? most times these things take some tweaking and prodding they dont usually work out the box.. also make sure you are in Full screen mode press LALT+ ENTER

Happy to report this issue is now fixed with geo-11 0.6.38. I am running Cold Waters DX9 (no fixes applied) using dgVoodoo2 and Geo-11 into TAB display and it renders correctly with original issue resolved.

Absolutely Fantastic Game and perfect for 3D has anyone got this working without any issues (i find ocean shadows are massively offputting) and you have to turn most of the "eye candy" to off and run it in a very "basic"

rally crank up the 3d and its like your own model submarine, absolutely perfect for 3d if only the 3d was perfect
