Doom Eternal freezes?

Hi guys,

Is anyone or has anyone experienced D:E freezing? I played the game a few months back for a few hours and haven't had this happen and today, withing the span of maybe 2h, the game froze like 4 or 5 times, requiring me to kill the process and restart. Not sure if this is because of a recent Windows update or maybe vk3dv 2.0.7 introduced some undesired side-effect?

I'm running the base game, without any DLC.

I don't think I ever saw the game freezing at any point.
Something strange is there. At what interval do you see the freezes?

I would say probably after about 20 minutes of gaming. This never happened before.
I will play more today and see how it behaves, will let you know. Not sure what I could check to provide any indication as to what might've happened, as there's no message or anything - just a freeze and I gotta kill the process.

I have just checked it and I've played Doom Eternal for 1 hour straight. I did not encounter any freezes or issues.
Hmm... I am not sure what to say... Do you use any overlay like MSI Afterburner or the likes?

I had this issue also, there was one point where it would freeze when I entered a portal. So i kept trying and eventually I tried walking through the portal backwards and it just worked, I had a play session just 10 minutes ago also where the game froze, I was not going through any portal , I think I was just navigating a level.

SO - 2h uninterrupted session today. At the end I click "YES" to exit to desktop and the game freezes But at least I was able to play without freezes.

Also, I didn't disable fullscreen optimizations on the exe, which I have now - I'll see tomorrow if this helps.

Awesome game and fix and the option to set separate convergence for the weapon

Is there no way to fix the AA?

I might have an idea why the game could deadlock, so I am investigating this

Grab the latest version I pushed today This should fix the potential cause of those freezes. I was still unable to replicate, but I know pretty much what could cause this
Let me know if that fixes the issue

yeah, I'm on 20H2 though and no stutter, just the freeze. And I'm not sure if I have that update (probably, because Windows did some updates a few days ago).

I'll try Helifax's latest update today and report.

I will not as the fix didn't update.
If it doesn't work for you, I don't know and I will not investigate this any further as I cannot reproduce the issue.

Alright, NO freezes yesterday! Not sure if it's your fix or if I just got lucky during that session, but either way, thank you for looking at whatever you could, I know it's hard to troubleshoot when you can't replicate the issue. And thanks again for the 3D fix

Awesome that is good to know! I think I was overly aggressive with the frame synchronization before and that could lead to freezes in certain conditions;)
Glad the new version fixed that and now you don't have the issue
