Red Dead Redemption 2 (11/5/19)

Post by Shift-E »

So Rockstar finally announced the inevitable, RDR2 will come out on PC November 5th. I am personally not a big GTA fan, but I loved RDR's setting and avoided the sequel on console because wanted to make sure the first time I play it will be in glorious 3D. I can only hope... :woot

1) it has native 3D support built in

Pretty unlikely, after Nvidia announced dropping support, but you never know. GTAV & Max Payne 3 did have it.

2) it has a DX11 option, and we still have 3D working AND it is fixable and not blocked by any dumb cheat software.

Already have set aside my donation money :D

Awesome news. Money is tight while I'm waiting on work (been over a month already now), but if I can swing it I'll pick this up on release and work on a fix for it (if needed & possible).

It made my day !

Hope fully it's DX11 and if fixable it wil be the game of the year and the following years 8)

Just a damn thought to nvidia fuckers, if they didn't drop 3Dvision support, RD2 would have been 3D ready at launch

The OP's information comes from the game page and we'll have to wait till Wednesday for whether DX11 is listed in the specs. The "newswire" that will mention the specs is probably here. Also I checked the Rockstar Games Launcher and it doesn't have RDR2 on it yet.

I might be wrong but it seems like Microsoft are the only ones that have been going exclusive dx12.
Hmm I am on the fence with this game. I didn't think the first one was very good and alot of the original fans haven't liked it due to how slow and sim like they have made it.

Ultimately for me I guess is if it will be on steam or not, since I'm boycotting epic timed exclusives. (good way to save money too.)

Hopefully Rockstar come through

PC specs, screenshots, and preorder details released:

https://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/ ... ia-the-Roc

Happy to see HDR included on PC version. Seeing how the steam version will most likely just launch the Rockstar launcher like GTAV does, I'll just get it on Rockstar and pick up all the free upgrades, games, and bonuses.

I'd discourage everyone to avoid the R* launcher, because R* can't be trusted.

To my endless dismay, I bought GTA 5 directly from their store long ago, and they don't do support of any form. Locked out of the game at this point in time, I need my key to get a new download. Response- zero. As in, they did not respond to my support request at all. You might recall my posting about their pathetic support during earlier GTA 5 time, when I quoted War and Peace to their support robots.

So yeah, fsck R* and their shitty support. You don't own it from them apparently, and they can decide whether to drop support any time.

(I figured out a bootleg way of getting the downloader to activate a backed up version of GTA5 on my drive)

PSA: The pre-order deal from rockstar with the 2 free games, free edition upgrade, bonus missions etc. expires October 22.

Starting October 23 green man gaming and the other digital retailers will start selling pre-orders. And then in December it will be available on Steam.

I was going to wait for green man gaming to see what kind of deals they were offering, but decided I couldn’t pass on the extra story missions and free games. I can confirm both Max Payne 3 and LA Noire are still working well in 3-D.

Please let this be DX11, have heard Rumours about DX12 and Vulcan "Vulcan is set because Googles new Streaming Client... screw!"
When there it be an DX11 Renderer, this Game will nothing less than the best 3D Vision Experience ever, and a hole new Open World Experience imho, so i beg for our all 3D merci that this one will fixable!!!

P.S. My thought is: DX12 with an 3D Option like the Tomb Raider Games has(SbS,OaU)... Rockstar knows that...Nothing to do with 3D vision ;-)

Well its up for pre-load, just a measly 109.47 GB :o

Had to clear some space off the SSD for this behemoth. I installed it and took a look at the files, didn't see anything that might tip off DX11 inclusion. Guess we will have to wait until Tuesday to see our 3D fate with this game. A bunch of PC hands on previews came out, but no mention of API. Some interesting info for PC folks though...

No purchasing till I know it's DX11 and even if works on Windows 7 it still could be DX12 as I recall Microsoft has a subset DX12 which works on Windows 7.

I already have this bought, pre-loaded, and ready to start fixing day one if everything aligns. Perhaps was a bit hasty of a move, but it's already been reported that it's using DirectX so Vulkan exclusivity should not be the case, and I feel like R* wouldn't be foolish enough to limit their market to DX12 only, so I think it was a safe bet. Worst case is if it is Dx12, that doesn't mean a fix won't be possible in the future, but we've all waited this long for a RDR game on PC so we can play it in 3D, here's hoping we won't have to wait even longer.

Looking on the Epic Store - the minimum spec is set pretty low (Win7/8 GBR/GF 770), so I would think that it absolutely has to support DX11.

I've got some news and unfortunately those are not exactly pleasing...

https://www.gamestar.de/artikel/red-dea ... 50718.html

The link above is a preview for RDR2 done (just a few days ago as it seems) by the popular German magazine Gamestar. They played the game ("an almost final build") during a visit at Rockstar's Munich office. In this preview they focus on RDR2's technical details.

Here are the most important facts done in "bullet points"

- They emphasize that 2 aspects really surprised them. The first being the fact that the game seems to be limited to 120fps. Then the graphics menu consisted of options for DirectX12 and Vulkan only.
(They don't forget to mention that both of these points still could change for the final version but are definitely worth mentioning).

- They say that when they first discussed a PC version for RDR2 a year ago they thought DX12 or Vulkan to be in the realm of possible but rather unlikely.

- First hints for Vulkan seemed to be the Stadia Version of the game. Google's streaming service uses Linux and is based on Vulkan. So every Stadia title needs to also offer Vulkan.

- They say the Stadia version for RDR2 could be the very reason why Rockstar opted for Vulkan. Even aside from Stadia "low-level APIs" (like DX12 or Vulkan) are absolutely convenient for a title like RDR2.

- Then they say that DX12/Vulkan's main purpose is an optimized CPU workload in comparison to older APIs like OpenGL or DX11.

- Although they couldn't do a direct comparison (as there only was DX12 and Vulkan available in the extensive graphics menu) they say even with these low-level APIs the PC version of RDR2 performed quite well...which is not a given.

- While the few available Vulkan-titles perform quite well this hasn't been always the case with DX12 although the tendency lately (CoD: Modern Warfare) is rather positive...

The rest of the article is focused on the 120fps limitation which they say could -of course - also change with the final build.

Well poop... the omission of a graphics API is not something that would be patched in between a pre-release beta and a release build, a lot more work and effort would is needed to go into that so I doubt that would happen at all at this stage. Dx12 3dMigoto is the only hope now.

Yeap it is a drama, no reshade, no 3Dmigoto for the best game for years…
Not playable in 2D, I bought the PS4 pro for this one last year, played 2 hours and no possible to play in ugly flat 2D, so I sold my PS4 and the game the nextday waiting for the PC version but we're doomed…

DX12 & Vulkan not playable in 3D, 3D gaming is in very bad shape for now…

We need Dx12 3Dmigoto or we are going down in few time

Well, this isn't the solution we were hoping for, but it's better than nothing. Apparently ReShade got an update today (just in the nick of time) that provides "better" Dx12 support, and experimental Vulkan support, so perhaps we can get their depth buffer 3D working here.

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comme ... tter_dx12/

I wonder if any of their developments could help our 3DMigoto devs with getting Dx12, and dare I dream, Vulkan support working as well.

Could someone could check ReShade DX12 on Rage 2 for example?

It's also said that Reshade 4.4 fixes crashes in UWP games, so we could check it on GOW and State of Decay 2?

I tried Rage 2 before with Reshade's one of the alpha 4.4 versions and it didn't work for me. Just now tried with the official 4.4.1 and it still doesn't work, no hooking, run from the reshade bat file for vulkan.
