I can't place the order. The web page seems broken. :-(

Once I enter my information the second page just has a check box and "Edit Order" at the bottom with no other text. Guessing that it's terms of service and checking the box and pressing the orange stip without any text just gives me an "transaction failed" message.

I tried that trick as well, but now it just fails with:

Required information is missing or contains errors:
Transaction has been declined [Error: This transaction has been declined].

No actual hint as to what the problem is.

Edit: And this is with credit card, paypal is shady. :-)

I guess the word is out and maybe the website has crashed?

I wish I could let email everyone in the forum. I would rather have someone dev in this forum get it then some random Joe that just wants to collect it or sell it on ebay.

Yeah probably.

Annoying since I did the first attempt 15 minutes ago but it still didn't go through. :-( Oh well. Even if I get miss the first pre-orders this time I don't think the wait will be as excruciating as for the DK1.

I received my email directly from Oculus so I assume that it's been mostly sent to people who either already own DK1 or have expressed enough interest to sign up for newsletters. It may well be that Oculus prioritise sending DK2s out to people who already have a DK1?

I logged on to order the minute it dropped into my mail box which was 15.22 GMT and no issues other than the last page being flaky. I've sent an email to Oculus but it could be the load on their server. I use IE 11 by default but have noticed issues elsewhere on the Oculus site when downloading the SDK and have often used Google Chrome instead without errors.

Actually I'm expecting it to be about the same. I have a feeling the demand for these is way stronger now. Maybe 70% of 60k dev 1 users will probably order one not to mention everyone that has heard about them is waiting....Hopefully they have a little backlog of devkits 2 already made.

The news is already out. :-)

I dropped a support mail to them to see if they can figure out what is going wrong for me.

I don't foresee any supply and delivery issues this time.

The demand for DK1 caught Palmer out last time, remember he was only planning on building around 1000 headsets himself with some as DIY kits.

Oculus is now a properly funded business with robust supply and distribution chains in place which will easily be able to deal with the demand which I'm sure they're expecting to be high.

...and let the excitement begin again!

Ordered (changing from paypal to card worked for me)...be interesting to know how far down the queue I am being an hour late!

Interesting the email from Oculus state the CK1 will have further resolution improvements..so most likely 1440p (seeing as DK2 is 1080p)

Nicely timed announcement as well..I can see the wind literally disappearing from Sony's sails as we speak! (well sort of lol)

yeah but if Sony wanted...they probably could get a consumer version out by the end of the year...

My order finally sent through. I bet their servers just melted or they might havet been swamping the cc servers or something.

IIRC the kickstarter sent up at about the same time in the day... HL3 confirmed?

Noticed that promotional code entry field..... I may wait for Palmer to "maybe" get back at us pre-k funders.... there is always hope. I noticed him chastising that "dk1 upgrate" ebayer (sic) a little, in here recently. So he will likely lurk this thread (once again "maybe" ). 350 is very affordable though, so I guess we shouldn't beg. I for one got zero perks with my dk1 order, no schwag what-so-ever. Apologies for guilt trippin' , but the truth is such.

woot woot Palmer.... promo code for the pre-k believers???? :)

Got mine as well. So, now it it time for wild speculation. Why July? By then, they will have a good backstock and we won't have the shipping problems of last year. By E3, all the devs and fanboys who want one would have already preordered one so they will have a good idea of how many they need to fulfill those numbers. But, that gives them a good month or so to make up for all the people who will still be ignoring their advice to wait for a consumer version when at E3, they announce consumer release date and specs along with the release of half life 3 vr.

I want to believe... :-p

Didn't get my order in until 3 hrs 20 after the email arrived! At least I'm not weeks late to the party like I was last time. My DK1 is still playing up but maybe it'll make it through to the arrival of the new one. So excited by this - this is way huger news than Sony's announcement :)

I got mine in 2 hours after it went live- I wonder where that puts me in line. Is there a way to tell from the order number how many orders there are so far? Is everyone's order formatted as GK-1440XXX?

My guess is the two letters before the number indicate the geographical location, while the later numbers list the orders from that area overall. (including DK1 and latency tester?)

Ordered this afternoon from the Netherlands. My number is CS-0148529.

I really wonder if I made the July time bracket and that I do not have to wait for too long. Man I am SO freaking excited!

My officemate and I ordered at the same minute and have wildly different order numbers. Mine is DM by the way. Headed to Denver, CO.

those order numbers seem to be random, even the letter code is changing within the same destination country.
I am happy i got mine in within the first hour, so for Europe that is likely putting me in the first batch.

Otherwise I am really on the edge now - I have been developing for 2-3 months now without using the Rift and just started a bit over a week ago to implent the Rift. Now I will relatively soon be able to judge how much the design gains from positional tracking (I hope a lot, because that is what I am targeting). And judging from the press (especially Kotaku had some very nice words that should get a ton of people buying the DK2) this will be the CV1 for a lot of people (you know, not developers). Even Nate said in one of the videos "this is not the CV because of no content" (not exact quote).

The age of VR soon truely begins ...

So I am curious - who will sell their DK1? I was tempted, but decided I can't possibly hold development right now. But seeing them pop up on eBay like crazy makes me wonder if a free-fall price on eBay will help a ton of newbies to enter the VR scene (the DK1 still is pretty awesome!!).
