Hello.
I am new to stereo 3d and i have some questions.
Before i discover 3d i didn't play games very often but now i am stuck.
I have pentium d 915 dual core 2.8ghz cpu with 3Gb (667 Mhz) ram and i bought a gainward geforce 9800gtx gpu.
I thought i could play the games in good fps but i am dissapointed. What it might be wrong ?
Is my gpu not fast enough?
Is my cpu which drops the frames?
Is my soundcard onboard? Does soundcard affect game performance?
I dond't know what to think. i try to use lower resolution even 1024x768 but i manage to gain a few fps (4-5) from 16080x1050 which i had. i think this is very strange.
If it is my cpu i am going to buy a new set (cpu motherboard ram).
What do you suggest me quad or dual core for gaming ? intel or amd ?
I am also thinking to buy a sli mobo so in some months when i have the money, to buy another 9800gtx in and put it in sli mode.
Does anaglyph 3d work with sli ?
Please give me your advise.
Thanks.
some questions i have.

Am I getting you right? The only problem is a low framerate???
It can't be only the cpu. I'd accuse the drivers as well. It's either the 3D driver not realy cooperating with your Graphics Card or the game not beeing configured right.
Maybe it's a full HDD? Or some other programs running in the background?

i have both nvidia and iz3d driver. The results are the same.
The disk isn't full and i have 2 disks (raid setup).
I play flatout2 at 1680x1050 on graphics full with post prossecing and antiallising off the frame rate is about 35-50 there is no option for v-sync. triple buffering on.
Half life 2 wih all maximum at 1680x1050 this is too the frame rate is the same.
with this frame rates i see the screen isn't smooth. i see a smooth screen only when frame rate is about 60fps.
With lower resolution the frames are about the same with the same details.

There should be the option to force Vsync always off in nvidia controll panel...
I'm impressed, that you can notice a difference between 50 and 60 frames... I don't notice much of a difference at about 30-40 frames - except other programs like fraps.
I testet Flatout2 in 1024x... and got 50-80 Frames in 3D with Nvidia driver and shutterglasses. I get 100 fps in 2D, which is a sign for vsync beeing on, but it's off in the controll panel
Shure you don't use a 7800 gtx? That would be an explanation, that we get about the same results - although I used a much lower resolution, because of my poor monitor...
Mybe it takes all the power to convert 2 pictures to Anaglyph
Just checked anaglyph and the framerate is considerably lower 35-55 instead of 50-80. I think the driver calculates 2 images first and then converts it to anaglyph, which needs 'rendering' time as well...
