Panasonic TC-P65VT25 , what drivers to use for 3d pc gaming?
saw the panasonic tcp65vt25, both the 2d and 3d are amazing. i am definitely going to buy it, but i am not sure which 3d pc gaming drivers would work best with it. i do have an nvidia gtx480, so when 3dtv play is out, i will give that a shot. however, i will probably be getting this tv before that's ready, so i want to know what i can use now.
i own an iz3d monitor, and have used that for 3d gaming, but i am clueless to the wider world of 3d drivers (including whether or not iz3d has the drivers i might be looking for)
thanks

At the moment you can use the iZ3D driver in side by side output mode.
You can also use other applications (stereoscopic player) or games like AVATAR : the game which support side by side natively without the need for drivers (or keep the drivers disabled).
You will need to manually enable/disable the 3D mode in the TV menus every time you start/stop playing in 3D though

sorry if this is a dumb question, but how would side by side mode give me 3d? is that a mode that the panasonic could convert into alternating frames?

Newer 3d-tv's generally supports a number of formats and over/under, side-by-side should be included. Check the manual for the tv. If the tv is fed with 3d it does separate the images. It aslo provides the signal for the shutterglasses. Iz3d drivers are great but lacks compability with shutterglasses so the side-by-side, over/under, interleaved etc will provide you with a perfect sync. Once you have 3d going you can easily experiment which modes that gives the best experience visually.

Yes, your TV will transform side by side into it's natural frame alternate mode.
Side by side is just a transmission format. The computer has two pictures it needs to send and the TV needs two picture it needs to recieve, while being certain that both devices know which one is the left eye and which one is the right eye.
There are many different transmission formats for 3D, side by side is only one of them, it is only half horizontal resolution but it has the advantage of being very simple and to be frame-compatible : which means you can use standard devices that have no idea that it is 3D and it will still work. Which is why you can use this format with any computer, any satellite tuner, any set top box, DVD player, whatever you want, it will work (as long as you enable it in the TV menu when you want to use it)

so in side by side mode the resolution i will be seeing is 960x1080? and over under will show 1920x540? do those look significantly inferior to full 1080p? is one better looking than another?

Yes the quality is inferior there is no question about it. (you can get back pixels that have been destroyed)
Will it be significantly inferior ? It depends on the quality of the scaling components used in the driver and in the TV.

Re: Panasonic TC-P65VT25 , what drivers to use for 3d pc gam
are there any pc drivers for 3d that allow 60fps/eye on an HDTV? If I understand correctly, the bandwidth on HDMI 1.4 should allow it, but I dont see it being mentioned anywhere.

Re: Panasonic TC-P65VT25 , what drivers to use for 3d pc gam
So far no driver supports full 1080p 60fps through hdmi 1.4.
An other problem is that we have strong hints telling us that no 3DTV currently available supports full 1080p 60fps inputs through hdmi 1.4.

It's quite easy : in the iZ3D control centre, go to the DirectX menu, and choose in the output list : side by side, with sub-mode either Left/Right or Over/Under.
If you do not see it in the list, reinstall the driver and make sure you choose a full installation, not just the default install which only installs support for the iZ3D driver.

Re: Panasonic TC-P65VT25 , what drivers to use for 3d pc gam
i have my computer hooked up to the 3dtv, but the only options i see are 3d dlp, anaglyph, and iz3d. i see no side by side or over under 3d outputs. i am currently connected to an hdmi 1.4 cable through a displayport to hdmi connector. could that be the issue? would i need to use a DVI to HDMI adapter to transmit 3d to the tv?

You didn't install all the outputs.
Reinstall the iZ3D driver and make sure you select a full install including all the outputs.

side by side is showing a 30 day trial. isnt that one of the licenses that come free after purchasing an iz3d monitor?

No, the iZ3D monitor only works with the iZ3D mode. The other outputs are for different types of displays and have their own separate licence.
