I'm not too concerned with perfectly mimicking reality. "Gimmicks" like pop-out are hyperrealistic, and I like hyperrealism. I don't care in the least if something is impossible in this reality. Why go to all this trouble to escape reality only to create an exact copy, with no visual improvements? I want total immersion in this world:

The videos you linked to don't mimick reality in regard to rendering and lighting, but they've been created by using the same dimensions and size ratios that we can see in reality, both from a 2D and 3D point of view.

If you really want to be immersed in such virtual worlds, the next logical step would be to also have a correct S3D rendering. Seeing this world in distorted 3D won't be immersive at all...

And we should not forget that things like pop-out are artificial, they're only an artefact due to the incapacity of stereoscopic displays to correctly represent depth. There is always a flat screen that is visible, even when virtual objects are located in behind or in front of it. In reality or in a perfect simulation of it, pop-out would not even exist.

I allways thought the magic of 3D was that the glass disappeared and things fly in and out of the TV frame. If You walk around in real life with an emty TV frame things will also popout (fx. if someone throw a cake in Your face or a leaf is blown by the wind).

well what true 3d "SEME"<----- Stereo Entertainment Multimedia Environment is being able to have 3d in volume "depth" so they say ohh. Like only now there is a taint of depth or barley visable only on a few objects in game. And the lucky old convergence does nothing for the magical illusion of arguing the nessicary pop out dream of volume that so many 3d users wish to have. I don't have the answers yet to clarify how devs deal with stereo 3d and their content programing settings but all i have to say is that its no where near in my eyes 3d even in dual render. All most people can do is wait until the strong test 3d protocol leaves for 3d better.

In games You can adjust so that all is popout or hyperstereo or what ever You like. At least I can.
