@KBK: So if you believe that all radiation is harmful regardless of frequency, strength, or dosage, you must not use A/C electricity then... So, how do you access the internet?

How is gasoline any less toxic that jet fuel? How does your food get planted and harvested and transported without using deadly fossil fuels?

How often have you seen men get into "cat fights"?

Your neo-luddite claims are at conflict with your life style, as proven by that fact that you even have internet access, and probably purchase supplies and food (and perhaps even fuel) that were grown or created by others.

Even most electricity generation consumes fossil fuels. Our energy demands far exceed "green" energy sources.

Careful with the forms of debate.

They need not be couched in straw man terms of putting words in my mouth. That's a shill tactic of controlling what any following reader may receive and 'take in'....and you might want to stay away from them.

One always has to be careful what they say. Some 'deaths' serve notice. when people can't be browbeat into submission through observation and fear tactics, then things revert to the creation of a warning. the old techniques and ways. Head on a pike, outside the city gates, kinda thing.

The guy at your link was a threat to national security. Because he had a constitutional right to go to a hacker conference to teach script kiddies how to kill people with pacemakers from 30 feet away, and certain VIPs in government depend on such devices, it was quite convenient for all concerned that he not be allowed to give his presentation, and an early death was a relatively clean way to achieve that goal. Messy and overly-publicized precedent-setting court battles were avoided, and perhaps tax dollars were saved so they could be used to help politicians get relected.

Such things are not uncommon.

But just the same, I do not think your "black ops" buddies avoid all wireless communications. I suspect that some of them embrace such technology, and probably depend on jet aircraft transportation as well. And some of them might even be males...

If you 'dig' films that hand over the cosmic mindfracking with a sledgehammer to the face, and have never seen this before... smoke a few and put your seatbelt on. One of the all-time greats. Inception and matrix territory, but it was done first. As a matter of fact, both steal from Dark City. Literally.

A comment from a published reviewer, "Critic Stephen Holden of The New York Times wrote that the "plot that Dark City builds on John's predicament is a confused affair" and that the film's premise is "unsettling enough to make you wonder if it could actually derail a seriously drug-addled mind."

At the date of launch of Johnny Mnemonic (1995) the iPhone wasn't even an idea, and the EyePhone name had already been used in an actual product, the HMD from VPL Research in 1989.

You can bet that if somebody new came out with a product called the "eyePhone" that apple's jack-booted lawyers/storm-troopers would be swarming all over it with C&D notices...

If you click that embedded link above, you will see that ThinkGeek got an official C&D to stop claiming that their canned Unicorn meat was "white meat":

Haha, of course! I knew that if one other person on the planet got sucked into the same transdimensional wormhole with me, it would be you. So far, everything else seems identical to our origin universe except there are also Johnny Mnemonic T-shirts and an "Interactive Action Movie" video "game" in this one (I'm not sure it's worth tracking down). Maybe here those prop guns and that Gibson-autographed script are actually worth something?

The worst part of this whole planar shifting thing? I'll never see my "real" family again, yada yada, but mostly: SearchTempest says there are six of the machines for sale on Craigslist in the continental US (1 2 3 4 5), and the cheapest one is like 20 minutes from my house! It's yet another of the universe's cruel jokes - unless you need someone to haul one across the country to fill up that empty spot in the Oculus office...

Magnetic sensitivity of dogs proven by geomagnetic poop alignment:
http://www.frontiersinzoology.com/content/10/1/80/abstract wrote:Dogs are sensitive to small variations of the Earth's magnetic field
Several mammalian species spontaneously align their body axis with respect to the Earth's magnetic field (MF) lines in diverse behavioral contexts. Magnetic alignment is a suitable paradigm to scan for the occurrence of magnetosensitivity across animal taxa with the heuristic potential to contribute to the understanding of the mechanism of magnetoreception and identify further functions of magnetosensation apart from navigation. With this in mind we searched for signs of magnetic alignment in dogs.
...
Dogs preferred to excrete with the body being aligned along the North-south axis under calm MF conditions. This directional behavior was abolished under Unstable MF. The best predictor of the behavioral switch was the rate of change in declination, i.e., polar orientation of the MF.
Really!

I wonder if magnetic distortion in indoor environments is why they chase their tails (i.e. yaw drift)... ;)

besides there are few like::

I put bet on SAMSUNG AMOLED as first choice, though XPLAY LCD is also good option

then we will also have something like 'SSV-NORMANDY'

Damn it,we are still not that close to interstellar travel.

There are two little things in the way so far to realize this in a spaceship: There is need for materia with a negative energy/mass (do not exist yet) and the energy needed to maintain the "warpbubble" will in any way be tremendous, especially for a spaceship.
Nothing says that it can not be done in the future. The discoveries within physics , especially during the 1900's til now makes for the seemingly unealistic to be done.

Some extra about lightspeeds: If someone can accelerate to a speed close to the light right now, there will be "no problem" to reach another starsystem in a small part of a lifetime because the time will go slower on the spaceship. It will be boring to return in order to report discoveries and see that everyone has passed away ages ago or even worse, seeing the earth all gone. Could just as well keep goin... :| A spaceship with a "warpdrive" would elimininate this effect though.

Likay wrote: There is need for material with a negative energy/mass (do not exist yet)
It does exist. Sure still not economical but it does exists.

Its called Antimatter and "Scientists claim that antimatter is the costliest material to make In 2006, Gerald Smith estimated $250 million could produce 10 milligrams of positrons (equivalent to $25 billion per gram); in 1999, NASA gave a figure of $62.5 trillion per gram of antihydrogen. This is because production is difficult (only very few antiprotons are produced in reactions in particle accelerators)"
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antimatter

C.E.R.N produces it with LHC or Particle Accelerator.
http://home.web.cern.ch/about/physics/search-antimatter

I even think of mini Nuclear Fusion Reactor can produce such tremendous energy which can drive that "Wrap Drive"

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_fusion
http://science.howstuffworks.com/fusion-reactor.htm

And Important correction... to my post
Mass Relays were used in ME were not built by Humans mean they were existing before Humanity discovered their existence and started using them for interstellar travel.

So if NASA developed Mass Relay and want to use it for first interstellar travel, then they got to have other end of Mass Relay in another galaxy to make first travel possible, which certainly is impossible.

So ‘ Wrap Drive’ got to be inbuilt within capital space ship (First interstellar Mother Ship) for first few journeys till we pass that construction material of Relay in next Galaxies. Once we build Massive Mass Relays (Intergalactic Suez Canals/Augmented Worm Holes) they can later be used to transport smaller ships without such massive "Wrap Drives"

Antimatter still have a positive value on the mass and therefore can not be used. ;)
The material for the warpbubble needs to have a negative energy density (for now called exotic materia since it has not been discovered yet) and antimatter doesn't fit in this category.
The theory behind all this research has been around for a while: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcubierre_drive

Also: Any nucleardevices, fusiondevices etc won't do since they (as far as it is now) are way to weak to maintain the bubble. When i say as far as it is now is that some extra forces/discoveries are needed before an actual spaceship can be realized. The energy needed is ASTRONOMICAL:
If certain quantum inequalities conjectured by Ford and Roman hold, then the energy requirements for some warp drives may be unfeasibly large as well as negative. For example, the energy equivalent of 10^64 kg might be required to transport a small spaceship across the Milky Way galaxy—an amount orders of magnitude greater than the estimated mass of the observable universe. Counterarguments to these apparent problems have also been offered.
In 2012, physicist Harold White and collaborators announced that modifying the geometry of exotic matter could reduce the mass–energy requirements for a macroscopic space ship from the equivalent of the planet Jupiter to that of the Voyager 1 spacecraft (~700 kg) or less, and stated their intent to perform small-scale experiments in constructing warp fields
Which is this sentence is quite optimistic but still a huge amount of energy.

As just say it might not be impossible in the future. A whole lot of discoveries leading to presense makes quit a deal of things realized which would be totally impossible with the theory known a 100 years ago. I believe physics may have quite a few surprises for us yet.

Something fun:
The Star Trek television series used the term "warp drive" to describe their method of faster than light travel. The Alcubierre theory, or anything similar, did not exist when the series was conceived, but Alcubierre stated in an email to William Shatner that his theory was directly inspired by the term used in the show, and references it in his 1994 paper.
