Hi Helifax I don't quite know how vk3dVision fits into SteamVR but I suppose it only does so on Windows ? I am running Doom Eternal on SteamVR on Proton on Arch Linux. What would have to happen in order to run VK3DVision in that setup?

Sadly not :( it only works on a Windows OS and the Windows implementation of OpenVR Api and not the native Linux one :(
It also uses DirectX11/9 for Presentation so it works with Nvidia's 3DVision systems.
So... for Linux it would require a Linux port for it to work.

Hello helifax - I am new here, but I like 3D SBS games. Is a way, how to activate Detroit became human via AMD Radeon 6600 card?
geo-11 games work, on your web side you write:
"""It aims to enable 3D Stereoscopic rendering (Geometry 3D) in Vulkan games and applications (under Windows) for AMD/Nvidia graphics cards."""

I try start Detroit demo, and i read "readme file"... My configuration was::: SBS_LEFT - Side-by-side, left image first. No Nvidia 3D Vision Driver is required!

But game after start write... "you need nVidia hardware".. Please help me, is any way for AMD Radeon RDNA2?

Currently it doesn't seem to work with AMD GPUs. And I sadly don't have an AMD gpu available to understand why this is happening!
But you are correct :) AMD/Nvidia support was available for my older OpenGL3DVision driver. Unfortunately Vk3DVision doesn't have it for reasons I don't currently know :( (As I can't replicate the problems on an Nvidia GPU :( )
Sorry for the confusion :(

Detroit looks fantastic. If you create RDR2 Vulkan fix, I give donate.
Its a best game for Vulkan API. Have nice day

I am using 3D Vision, 472.12 driver (do I need to upgrade maybe?) on a 2080 with Windows 10. All geo-11 games work fine and I have followed all the instructions from Vulkan 3D manual, including full-screen optimizations. What else could trigger the black right eye?
I have found a workaround to fix a similar Doom Eternal "BLACK right view" on start issue that occurs after the warning screen is displayed and the game menu music starts;

- Assume Full Screen mode is enabled
- Start Vk3DVision.exe
- Start DOOMEternalx64vk.exe (Doom Eternal)
- Wait for first video to appear (Bethesda logo)
- Ctrl-Alt-Del - select Task Manager (temporarily exit view of game)
- Wait for both videos to completely finish and when the Doom Eternal logo on black background has been displayed in game (approximately 12 seconds)
- Alt-tab back into Doom Eternal

(note Alt-Enter does not appear to work)

WickedScav wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 3:27 am I did try that just now. I upgrade to the latest 526.98 driver and it slightly improved the situation. I do no longer get the right black eye issue after the intro logos but the whole screen is now flickering (mainly the right eye). I am still able to load a level and see that the 3D is working correctly but the flickering is quite annoying.

So I decided to try to skip the intros and by that provoke the right black eye bug and again, I was able to get 3DV to work after several ALT-ENTER presses, just like with the old drivers, although again the 3DV was quite wobbly but at least and can finish the game in 3DV because with the flickering when not skipping the intros, the game is unplayable for me.
The flickering error does not always occur on my system (only 50+% time).

[EDIT: false] Disabling the Vk3DVision startup UI overlay appeared to solve the flickering error;
- edit [Doom Eternal Installation Location]\DOOMEternal\Profiles\Doom Eternal\Vk3DVision.ini
- set ShowStartupUi = false

Hi
Everyone its my first post.
I cannot play "flat" games anymore and love DooM 2016 so VK3Dvision may be my savior - but - it doesnt work for me.
I see loading splashscreen but then doom crashes and I am getting error report.

I saw games on HelixVision and I am a big fan of this concept, I will be more than willing to donate/join patronite, but doest it work on my PC????

I have 3060Ti/ 527.56 game ready driver and Quest2.
What I do:

Before doing anything I am setting in doom as in Readme: -> vuclcan, -> borderless window -> etc. -> save and quit game.
My Vk3DVision folders and Profiles FOLDERS are in DOOM directory where DOOMx64.exe is, and i did Vk3DVision prefs edit: Stereo3DViewMode = OpenVR
here is my Doom folder:
Image

Then I:
1. Start oculus app-> activate Link (cable). (quest 2 is set as default OpenXR device)
2. Start steam, start SteamVR.
3. Start Vk3Dvision.exe (i see Vulcan 3D vision screen)
4. Doble click DOOMx64vk.exe (also tried launching just via steam PLAY button, with and w/o big scrren theater also tried DOOMx64.exe)
5. I see splashcreen with doom guy and demons ;) saying somethin like "powered by 3Dvision" (not sure exactly what is says)
6. Everything crashes and I am getting error like in picture below:

Hi Thief666,

Quick question:
- You are 100% sure that in the game video options -> Advanced -> you have set to run as Vulkan and not OpenGl? (It does not matter what executable you start the game with, it matters what is in the options :) )
- You are running the latest Doom 2016 version from Steam, right? (latest version, no older/hacky version).
- You have SteamVR running before hand once Link is engaged right?
- You can see the SteamVR environment?
- You have disabled "Desktop Game Theatre when launching desktop games while SteamVR is active"?
- Grab the latest version 4.19.20 of Vk3DVision and latest game profile. (I see you are running a preeeety old version there).

Also, in the latest version you don't need to copy anything inside the game folder. Just have a folder made Vk3DVision or whatever, on C/D drives. It's all in the Readmes;)

I can give it a go on my Quest 2, but last I checked some time ago... it was still working fine.

Ok, I was able to reproduce this issue. It seems it was introduces lately in some of the Nvidia/Vulkan drivers... working on a fix :) (It seems to affect anything from RTX 2080 to RTX 4090) on the 527.x branch.

Code: Select all

If the VkPhysicalDeviceIDProperties structure is included in the pNext chain of the VkPhysicalDeviceProperties2 structure passed to vkGetPhysicalDeviceProperties2, it is filled in with each corresponding implementation-dependent property.
Guess they don't want us to use that anymore  Since they decided not to provide this information.. oh the joy.. of "implementation-dependent"

OK helifax, thanks for extremely detailed response!

I did double check all item from your checklist, and it seems that I have set everything correctly - so I am
really glad that your were able to reproduce error!!!!

I will be glad to roll back video driver if older does not cause this error (but supports 3000 cards).
Please if someone has it still working let me know what driver will be OK. (considering that i have 3060ti)
but hopefully, looking forward, this problem is fixable?

PS

REALLY cannot wait to see Doom in 3d! I just purchased Doom eternal just out of pure excitement!

Hi,

I pushed a new version of Vk3DVision v.4.19.22 that addresses the crash in Doom (2016) that you were seing.
I also update Doom Eternal fix with a few shaders that got broken in one update over the past months :)

Do let me know if you get it working now :)

Cheers

I was able to tune setting so picture in DooM is "very 3d" (like wehn pressing F1) but "toyification" is minimal ! this is absolutely awesome. I will support. BIG thanks!

There is no tessellation support. If and when I will look into it, there will be an update. Currently is sitting somewhere in the bottom of the barrel :) This does not mean I will not look at it at some point, but I think there are a lot bigger fish to fry ^_^ Like Wolf 2 VR or Sniper Elite 5 or even Single Frame Stereo mode, etc   :ugeek: )
As for RDR2.. I dunno. I loved the game and such but I didn't really felt the need to see it in 3D for some reason :))

@helifax - Balder's Gate 3 will have its full release in August this year. Unfortunately, Losti's DX11 fix appears to have broken during the various updates. It appears the game's default engine is Vulcan, while DX11 is supported. Perhaps if you have time and interest, this game might be a candidate for your special talents?

Quicktest:

Everything works in OpenVR ! Performance is very good !

But on Windows 11, RTX380ti, Ryzen 7 5800X and HP Reverb G2 a little bit unstable. The HMD lost the tracking very often and finally crashes the game.

I often have problems like that in 3D/VR, if there is not enough Performace reserved for the HMD Tracking.

60FPS with Asynchronous Reprojection or better Motion Smoothing etc. pushed to 90FPS is better than a native 90FPS Lock.

If i will use Katanga in other Games, than I have to lock my FPS in my Systemsettings, too. Because Katanga looses the Headtracking all the time.

But congratulations to this fantastic Mod ! Thank you very much !

Really glad that you like it!
The OpenVR environment is top of the game rendering in Vk3DVision. (SteamVR will also use the GPU to some extent.)
If you look in Vk3DVision.ini for the game (under Profiles) you will see some sections related to OpenVR synchronisation. By default is async (so SteamVR renders at max refresh rate while the game can render at a lower framerate).
You can try to fps limit the game to 60 FPS either from the ini or the in-game settings.

Losing tracking and SteamVR crash sounds like a WMR + SteamVR interaction or something going on there. Hope you will figure out what is going on ;)

Regarding Red Dead Redemption 2:
Tessellation support is available in Vk3DVision now and as far I can see all the features and graphics could be updated for Stereo3D.
My issue is not that, my issue is the lack of time this requires to make it happen ;)
I haven't given up yet on a potential fix, it's just not something that will happen very soon (the game uses a gazillion shaders and so on and so forth)
Then there is also the problem with Rockstar effectively banning the VR mod from working on the game.. so I don't know if I want to touch their "IP" and products in any way or form... I don't need this kind of stuff as this is a hobby. :(

I think the main problem with Luck Ross Vrmod was that he was asking money for this game mod.
But VorpX, SD3d have no issue working with RDR2 so you shouldn't too ;)
