3D to 2D?

Post by mcgrew »

It may sound silly, but we're looking to take a Frame Sequential Method 3D video (from a Panasonic HCX-900M) and decompose it to a 30p lefteye and a separate 30p right eye stream. In doing automatic motion-analysis and such things, it turns out that this might be a dandy way to have both sides pre-synchronized, if you will.

It may be that the AE Writer thing will do this, but I'm not entirely sure what "convert 3d into 2d" means in this context. I have to be sure that all the frames of right-eye and all the frames of left-eye distinct.

Will ffmpeg do this properly? It might be that I can 'select' even frames and not-even (odd) frames.

Any thoughts?

I'd do that with AVISynth. With a little Google search I found this :

How to convert frame sequential 3D to side by side 3D ?
