Can Codecs interfere with 3D gaming?

Post by locrow98 »

I had my 3D monitor working perfectly with games until I installed K-lite Codec Pack 780 Mega (which includes ffdshow). Now I have considerable white ghosting, purple ghosting, random cross-eyed glitches in games, etc. I have tried uninstalling the codecs and regediting them out, but the problems persist, causing me to think I may have to reinstall Windows. I was wondering if a lot of codecs can cause 3D Vision/3D gaming in general to have problems.

I've never heard of that happening, but I guess it could be possible.

Is this happening in games only or video only (or both)?

It happens both in games and in videos. Regardless of adjustments to depth/convergence I now always have purple and white ghosting and visible vertical lines when there is movement on the screen. Before I installed the K-lite mega pack, I would only have slight white ghosting if my convergence and depth weren't adjusted right. The image is also grainy.
