Any experiences on getting an ASUS VG248QG (Not QE) to work well with 3DVision Glasses?

Post by KingSadra1234 »

Hi there!
To be honest, I've always been a 3D enthusiast myself, and used to own this pretty neat LG D2342P Monitor which while didn't offer the best 3D, was still acceptable. However, last week it decided to die on me out of no where, and having bid farewell to this old friend, I now wanted a more True-3D-ish 3DVision monitor, and came across the Asus VG248QE, however, the specific monitor is really hard to find in my region, and even when avalible, costs more than a much better VG248QG that also has GSync. Now, my question would be as to whether if I'd be able to get 3D running with 3DFM, and an emitter, or would I need to spend the extra buck on the QE? THANKS....

Yup, the VG248QG can be made to work with 3d vision with the edid override, you can even use the vg248qg inf driver, or any 1080p 3d vision inf driver to get it to work.
I downloaded an INF of the Dell S2716DG using the Wayback Machine to get to an old 3DVISION BLOG page where folks were sharing 3D Vision monitor inf's.
that's where you can find the INF's.

Pretty much any 120hz+ TN monitor will work as long as it has some sort of backlight strobing function. It would be alot better if you can find a 1440p 27inch monitor. The higher resolution and bigger size makes for a nicer picture. Sometimes these can be found for cheap because they are pretty old already.
