Any hope for Evil West?

Post by lohan »

I couldn't find any reliable info regarding DirectX11/DirectX12. Did anyone already give it a try?

Wow, that was fast! Thanks a lot for the info, harisukro! Any info, if it's working using geo-11? Due to RTX-4090 I am limited to using that option...

Yes, Universal fix 9.12 works with geo11, you just have to select the right output - are you using SBS or a 3DVision display?

Great info! Thanks! I am using TAB with my LG 4K OLED. Back in the days I used it as a 3D Vision display via EDID override. Since my new system arrived, I am using it via geo-11 (without EDID override) and it works like a charm. I have to admit though that up to this point I exclusively used "complete" geo-11 fixes (Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XV).

I guess it won't be much different for using geo-11 in conjunction with the universal fix, right!? I remember Losti dropping some geo-11 specific info within the Universal fix thread...

I just gave it a try. Unfortunately, it didn't work. This is what I did:

1. Extract the Universal Fix V9.12 to ...Evil West/High Moon/Binaries/Win64 (the usual procedure for the Universal fix)
2. Click on start 0000_Start_GEO11.cmd (just like mentioned in Losti's instructions)

And here the journey ends. After clicking on "start 0000_Start_GEO11.cmd" the usual window seems to open but just for a milisecond before closing again. I don't know the reason yet (why the cmd-window opens and closes in an instant) but it has definitely nothing to do with this specific game. I had the exact same issue when trying the universal fix with Dark Pictures: Man of Medan last week. Being an older game, I thought this was due to the universal fix not being compatible with the game. Now I know the solution lies elsewhere. Just where I don't know yet.

Any suggestions what could cause the " start 0000_Start_GEO11.cmd"-window to open and instantly close?

My system:

i9 13900K
RTX 4090
32GB
Win 11 Home 22H2

Try to copy the two files from ShaderFixes/Geo11/ and edit in Device direct_mode from d3dxdm with your choice, also force_stereo=2 in d3dx.ini

Great advice (and quite shocking I didn't come up with this simple solution myself) :-)

As for the cmd-issue: It's a well-known issue that was carried over from Win 10. I could try some options here to fix it, but the obvious solution (thanks again harisukro) already did the trick. The game is working flawlessly now! Thanks guys!
