A way to make 425.31 working without repair

Post by b4thman »

I am trying to solve the problem when using 425.31 driver that forces me to use the repair function (Losti's tool) if I want to see 3D on my monitor properly. Windows 10 version 20H2

The problem seems to be a mess related to refresh rates. If I change refresh rate in the Nvidia CP, it is always (I guess) using 144 hz (the max refresh rate of my monitor) because the mouse moves very smooth even if I choose 60 hz, but some weird problem happens because Nvidia CP changes always the number to 60 hz automatically (but the mouse remain smooth). I can change any resolution, and the result is the same, showing me 60 hz and the mouse movement totally smooth.

If I enable g-sync (it disables 3D) and choose 24 hz, and later I enable 3D, I get 3D working properly (but not with all games), and the screen always at full brightness even in 2D mode. The thing is that in this moment I can play 3D games properly, but with some weird refresh rates problems with some games.

The thing is that, at least, it is possible to play 3D games without using the repair function (even though with problems sometimes), and that meens that... maybe..., it is possible to solve this problem properly, or at least to understand why it is happening. I have not enought knoledgement about this, and maybe somebody with the same problem knows better.

It is not exactly that 3D does not work. It does not work with many games (or engines). But I can play some games without using "repair" option (for example The Witcher, Dark Souls 3, Unravel Two, Dark, Trine 2).

And it is not possible to play others (Days Gone, God of War, UE4 games, Superdeph3d,...). If I try, I get only 2D.

Rolling back to previous Windows 10 versions seem to be not possible now (apparently that would be the solution to prevent this problem). So must keep using the repair option to play with 425.31 driver.

Meh, if my emitter times out, some games will not reinitialize it, so I just open up a jps file or initiate the "Test stereoscopic 3D" or if a user did not have a jps file, they could pin the preview pack

I don't think there is any solution. Nvidia CP is a mess without the "repair" (repair = install the driver again). I try to enable DSR and it does not respond. I try to change refresh rates and it is a mess. Nvidia 3D Video Viewer shows me only 1 jps picture.

And everything in the Nvidia CP works well after repair (until I reboot, of course). Windows is creating a mess in the Nvidia driver when rebooting. It is courious that, for some reason, some 3D games work without applying the repair option (maybe they manage refresh rates in specific way).

I think the problem's name is: "Windows version 20H2".

- I usually use DDU (from time to time the "repair" option unistall my driver and forces me to reinstall completely the driver, and I usually use DDU).
- I have been with my windows blocked (Sledgehammer) for months. The problem is that I used Sledgehammer for the 1st time too late (and 20H2 was installed before).
- I don't think I have any USB problem. I can play perfectly after applying the "repair" option. I can also play perfectly if I decide to install 452.06 driver (but with worse fps than 425.31).
- I am not the only one with this (or similar) problem.

In fact, I can play perfectly any 3D game (of course, after repairing). The problem is that I have to use "repair" (a couple of minutes waiting) every time I turn on my computer if I want to play 3D games.

Reinstalling Windows and applying Sledgehammer may probably solve the problem, but I prefer not to take that solution. I am just curious about what is the cause of this problem.

I am going to take a look at your previous link (the issue about windows overwriting things).

Thanks anyway.

I also have used SledgeHammer, but too late. Anyway, I have just installed 452.06 after the release of Geo-11. Geo-11 games run smooth with 452.06.

The problem is that Geo-11 is not compatible with every game (I have to play games, I have only played a couple of games using Geo-11).
