Potential dissimilar contrast enhancement for LCD VR HMDs

Post by whyme466 »

See https://www.roadtovr.com/dice-dichoptic ... search-vr/. Personally, I would prefer use of improved OLED displays, rather than visually mismatched images on LCD displays. Our shaderhackers spend incredible amounts of time trying to eliminate image artifacts like this. Improved contrast is a key reason why I prefer a lens-modified Vive Pro to either Valve Index or Pimax 8K.

By the way, I am currently playing Asgard’s Wrath via Revive - great game, but my i9-9900X/32 GB/2080Ti struggles with Epic visual settings during combat (had to reduce quality settings). Revive may be contributing to the performance lag. Index Controllers are ideal input device for this VR-based 130 GB+ Oculus game.
Dual boot VR/3D Vision disk partitioning (multiple SSDs). 3D Vision - Windows 10 v1809, 425.31 driver, 32 GB, i9-9900X@4.5 GHz, hybrid-cooled 2080Ti, 4K LG E6 OLED TV with EDID. VR/geo-11 - 3080Ti with Vive Pro 2, also have Aero, wireless lens-modified Vive Pro, Index, Reverb G2, Pimax 8K.

Wow thank You for this news I thought it will be unplayable with Index Controllers, but now this is my must buy :)

I have not replayed some Oculus games since getting the Index Controllers, but Vader Immortal, Robo Recall, and Lone Echo work great. The only game I have encountered that does not work well with either Index or Vive controllers is Eleven Eleven. I have also preordered Stormland, which is releasing on November 14.

Thank You for info & please tell how good is Stormland with Index.

I should note that I am getting occasional stutters that require restarting game, even with my 2080Ti. For example, see helifax's comment about this topic on Revive GitHub forum - https://github.com/LibreVR/Revive/issue ... -542851417. When working correctly, the game and its immersion are incredible.

Update: my game stutter was due to Chaperone boundary interaction with game (discussed more in separate forum topic). Disabling SteamVR Chaperone stopped my stuttering.

Unfortunately, Stormland does not work with Revive at launch (devs are using their own in-house game engine), and it sounds like it may be several weeks before Revive can be patched.

Shame, but hope that Revive will make it playable. And please keep us updated when You can play this game. Out of reviews this game sounds really good.

Revive has been patched twice for Stormland, first to make it work with Revive, then patched to fix some textures rendering at wrong depth. Stormland is now working with Revive (and Index Controllers), but I am only at the beginning. I will finish the incredibly good Asgard’s Wrath before playing any more of Stormland. I should note that Asgard’s Wrath has a little bit of grasp sensitivity issue with Index Controllers, but the game remains very playable.

Skawen - you might consider voting Asgard’s Wrath VR’s GOTY, see https://www.mtbs3d.com/phpBB/viewtopic. ... 42#p166540.

Hello All!

2 days ago I have updated Asgard's wrath to version 1.20 & started game after playing for 20-30 minutes the game crashed & then I have tried to relaunch game but it shows only black screen & in task manager is showing Not responding.

Things I have tried:
1. Reinstall drivers
2. Reinstall game
3. Left game to launch for 15 minutes, but the same black screen.

Maybe someone had the same problem or can tell me some more things to try.

The saddest thing is that I am now with 4 player & won't see the end of the game :(

Thank You in advance.

Did you update Revive and SteamVR, as well?
