When you think of virtual reality, augmented reality and general tech hardware for the facial region, a number of names probably spring to mind. Google Glass, Oculus Rift, Google Cardboard and Project Morpheus maybe. But there's another name you might want to take note of too: Avegant Glyph.

Avegant Glyph is not a VR headset, but a retinal display that uses two million mirrors to shape something suitable for the eye, which it then projects straight onto the retina. WIRED has had its eye on the Glyph for a while now, but it's not long now until consumers will be able to have Glyph on their eyes. And ears for that matter. The Glyph is not just for movies and games -- in fact this is not even how you will see it marketed when it goes on sale next year.
