I just broke the screen on my Rift. (Replacement Question)

While cleaning my Rift to remove the annoying dust that was on my screen I accidentally pressed too hard and now the screen is ruined. (The screen now has ripples on one eye.) Because the lenses and the motion tracker still work properly and because of the upcoming announcement of a DK2 I do not want to buy a new DK1.

I am now thinking about replacing the screen. Can you guys please recommend me a fitting screen? If possible I would like to upgrade to a higher resolution.
I don´t think Oculus offers a repair service for their devices, but if they do please let me know.

Unfortunately Oculus does not sell spare screens or offer repair service.

We do provide replacements in the case of DOA units, but it you drop the device or otherwise damage it yourself you are basically on your own there.

If you can manage to find the correct LCD model somewhere, then it should be plug and play (though you'll have to transfer the power supply board taped on back of the Rift's panel to the new one).

I think I will just have to live with the ripples on my screen until DK2 is released.
(I guess now I have another reason to look forward to DK2.)

iFixit has a teardown article of the oculus rift. Within there is a mention of the make and model of the screen. You should be able to source it somewhere since it's publicly available as a part.

oh, man... now that the screens are not being manufactured anymore I guess you will either have to get one somewhere out there or wait for DK2... unless you wanna get ripped off on eBay
