So... I own and ATi card...

Post by Left Shoe »

I own an ATi card and have to use the E-Dimensional driver, which crashes every single game I own except Flatout 2 and games older than DX8.

Is there anything I can do? Or am I just outta luck?

Not if you use the E-Dimensional driver.

True.
I can only give generel tips since I've never used ATI or the eDim driver myself.
1. update the ATI driver.
2. install latest DirectX: http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/directx.html
3. reinstall eDim driver/program
4. did You do anything special to run FlatOut 2? Is there any stereo profiles in E-Dupdate.exe for FlatOut 2 but not for the other games? Did You install FlatOut 2 before E-Dupdate and other games after?
5. email the support team at www.edimensional.com for advice.
6. Buy a cheap 7600 or 7900 Nvidia card (not the best solution if You have a good ATI card, I know...).
7. Ask at an ATI forum:
http://www.rage3d.com/board/forumdisplay.php?f=27
http://forums.legitreviews.com/forum-5.html
http://forums.guru3d.com/forumdisplay.php?forumid=19
8. 3D forum:
http://www.stereo3d.com/cgi-bin/discus/ ... ?pg=topics

It would be a bit strange if only 1 recent game worked. The eDimensional support team must have an explanation/some advice.

1. I have the latest.
2. ^ Ditto
3. Done that several times
4. I did othing special to run it. It creates profiles for every game. I installed all of them before.
5. I'll try it...
6. Going to be buying an 8800 in about a month. My X1800 is gettin' old.
7. Again, I'll try it.

Anyone else know any possible fixes?

Also, do you still need NVidia drivers for an HMD? Say perhaps... a Z800? :P

To get decent 3d you need an Nvidia Card. Bite the bullet, sell yours and gent a Nvidia. ATI need to get their act together. Will you regret it? definately not.

Neil is going to make annoucement soon so it might be worth waiting until then. Judging by his hints it's going to be really big news. Personally I have my fingers crossed hopeing that it involves SLI Drivers.

SLI drivers?!?!? Pffft! BIGGER! :P

If you can, please help out in the advocacy sections because I want to demo them at the conference - and, of course, there is a direct benefit for doing so!

The more you do, the more you stand to benefit. EVERY post counts (in more ways than one! )
