Post Aiptek 3D Camcorder Sample pics & videos
Here are the first pics and video samples I was able to find for Aiptek's new 3D camcorder coming out on August 15th!

the quality is nice but what's with the awful vertical alignment like in this pic?

it's way off...

lol....

EDIT: I downloaded one of the sample vids and the playback speed is still lousy - I wonder if youtube somehow spoiled the video or if they are all like that.

I think it might be YouTube, your raw video looks great Yuriythebest and then to watch it on YT, ugh.

But you notice they did not move the camera much in these samples, so maybe...

when it comes to video quality then yeah, but as for the jittery motion :|
I do hope the final product will be capable of more and won't have the vertical misalignment

The quality looks OK. Not great, but also not bad for the price. I'm still getting one. In terms of the vertical misalignment, that could easy be that the camera was slightly off-balance when they were shooting. Or maybe its a problem with the camera. I know on my dual-camera rig, even with a bubble level the videos always come out with vertical misalignment. Even worse than in that video, and they are 2 of the same camera. So that is probably not a big deal. What is a big deal is the choppy video. It barely looked like 15fps and it was inconsistent at that (look at the waves of water at the beginning). Really shabby, but hopefully they just encoded it wrong or something. I can't imagine the camera is that bad quality. I don't think it is YouTube because I have uploaded tons of 720P 3D footage and it looks smooth. Not sure what happened there. I'll still probably get it anyway, though.

if you mean the positioning of the camera then no- you can see that things are consistently misaligned by the same amount in all parts of the videos.

yeah that was painful to watch

mm okey but I'd still wait for some more sample footage first.

Good news! I found out that the i2's battery CAN be replaced!

The Aiptek USA website shows that the i2 comes with an NP60 battery.

B&H Photo shows a replacement battery will be available, Aiptek NP60 Li-Ion battery $12.70

Sounds to me like their processing software was probably not complete or had bugs. Hopefully the camera supports a format that can be used with standard video editing programs.

well the problem is, even if the format is a SBS avi, if it's misaligned and will require manual re-alignment every time through software they they provide it'll still be a critical flaw in my opinion

Well I am more concerned about the choppy framerate more than anything. At least the mis-alignment can be fixed in post.

Youtube does something to my vids (besides lower quality they're incredibly choppy compared to the original vid). Maybe it's because they change framerate to a fixed one meaning some frames are skipped. This will lead to a choppy playback. I don't really know though. Can't do much either because cameras always records at 30fps.

Yeah, Yuriy was just talking to me about that, I asked him to send me an original of one of his YT3D videos and the original looked great and played smoothly while the YouTube counterpart looked choppy like you mentioned.

Maybe it is constant bitrate vs. variable bitrate?

Well, looks like the release of the i2 is being pushed up to September!

Maybe they are working on the software.
