Hi Guys!
I need to create a Windows 7 boot-up CD complete with network support.
I just need something that I can load on a notebook computer, network copy the data over, and later wipe and install over.
I cannot boot on the notebook hard drive, but the data is intact.
Thanks in advance,
Neil

Re: Need Windows 7 Boot-up CD
sounds like you hafe fried your bootloader...
Tryed to boot with the normal installation disk? You should be abel to fix the boot problem via a wizzard.
But if you only want to copy your data over network: Try Knopix it shpuld do the job.

Re: Need Windows 7 Boot-up CD
I found exactly what I needed!
Ultimate Boot CD For Windows!
I tried the Linux route, but it didn't work for me.
All you need to get the above working is an XP systems disk, let it build a new ISO to press a CD, and then you are good to go!
Regards,
Neil

Hmm right, I know the Hiren's boot disk, but it is a litle bit more... well you don't need an XP disk for it
but glad that it worked.

Re: Need Windows 7 Boot-up CD
Should of told me [or Dr. Spock maybe]. I use a USB to IDE/SATA adapter. Most adapters will accept notebook drives as well. Pull out the HD from the notebook attach to driver. Plug driver into USB port. Add power to drive and copy the files.Neil wrote:Hi Guys!

Alternatively, as soneone suggested, try and fix the MBR [it's in MS knowledgebase or on the 'net].
You could also install XP right on top of the old system [it's XP right?]. Just what you need [NIC drivers]. No other updates.
PS - When you wipe and reinstall, use 2 partitions. One for the OS. One for data.
