Windows 7 - cheap for students

Has links for the non-US countries as well.

Note that if you are upgrading from Windows XP or Vista [either 32-bit] to Windows 7 64-bit, you *MUST* do a fresh install. Seems a few people tried to upgrade making their system unusable - ignoring the warnings on the site. No media is included [it's streamed].

A legal [?] alternative would be to get the appropriate media [from a friend] and once you've purchased and got your serial number, don't stream the install.

BTW, a tip [within this tip]: Make an ISO of the DVD. Find and delete EI.CFG. When you install Windows 7 it will ask you which edition you want to install. You [of course] need the corresponding serial number. This in fact legal. It's on the Microsoft support site.
