Perception won't open
I'm trying to get vireio perception to work with the oculus rift and skyrim. The first time I tried it, there were black bars on the sides and headtracking didn't work. Now vireio perception won't open at all. I click perception.exe and nothing happens after Windows 7 asks me if I'm sure I want to run this program. I've turned off avast and I've tried running it as administrator but it still won't open.

Re: Perception won't open
That doesn't sound right at all.
1. Delete the driver and all its directories.
2. Is your computer in clone mode? 1280X800X60Hz - not more, not less.
3. Does Skyrim run in this scenario (full screen)
4. Run a verify game cache in Steam. Make sure all is well.
5. Make sure bdeferredshadows=0 in skyrimprefs.ini
6. Reinstall Perception drivers
Let me know how things go.
Regards,
Neil

done

yes
3. Does Skyrim run in this scenario (full screen)
yes, skyrim always runs
4. Run a verify game cache in Steam. Make sure all is well.
I don't know how to do this but I don't see what it has to do with getting Perception to run before I start skyrim.
5. Make sure bdeferredshadows=0 in skyrimprefs.ini
done
6. Reinstall Perception drivers
I redownloaded and unzipped it. Is there another step?
The perception window still isn't coming up like it did before.

Re: Perception won't open
Can you share your exact hardware and OS specs?
1. Is SLI / CrossFire OFF?
2. How many displays do you have physically connected to your computer? You should only have one PLUS the Rift.

Neil

Re: Perception won't open
I wonder if it could be a 32-bit issue? I always tested with Win7 64-bit.

Re: Perception won't open
This is a very good point. I don't have any 32 bit systems.
Would the way the drivers were compiled impact this, I wonder?
We'll see what we can dig up. I didn't realize people voluntarily used 32 bit OS anymore.

Neil

Re: Perception won't open
It came with Vista 32-bit in 2008 and when I upgraded to 7 it wouldn't let me switch to 64-bit.
