Christmas bonus in and looking for recommendations - hoping to punt my current HD LG LCD tv for £300 if I decide to change to 3d and wondered if there were any recommendations.

If you have the money to spend, the Sony 3D TVs are really awesome. Next up are the Panasonic. Then probably Samsung or LG.

This may be a good choice for you:

I haven't seen that exact model, but I have used a number of their US models and they were all top-notch.

This also looks interesting for the price:

If you want to get imports, there is more of a selection of US TVs but I doubt you want those kind of shipping charges.

Consumer Reports rated 20 3D TVs in january 2011 and they found the Panasonic VT20 and VT25 to be the best among them, they had the least ghosting and achieved the highest scores in their 3D TV ratings. The Sony were the best LCD 3D TVs but they exhibited more ghosting than Plasma and they also needed the viewer's head to be perfectly level.

You can find a little bit more information here :

Thanks - I've actually been looking at the passive sets from LG, Cello and Toshiba (I know that Vizio don't ship to the UK)

The cello sets seem a bit crap so I think I am narrowed down to the 42inch LG vs the Toshiba.

Now have to sell my 2d tv!
