Never owned an Nvidia card yet. Questions

In the last year I built my first PC, at the time I decided to purchase dual ATI HD6850 cards.
I'm not happy that the 3rd party software for 3D gaming for these cards doesn't support Crossfire.
My question is, How are the Nvidia users finding the 3D support through 3D vision? Does it support lots of games in 3D and also, I've been reading Nvidia's site and they do not list Sony 3DTVs as being supported displays. Is anyone out there using a Sony 3DTV with an Nvidia card? If so, does it work well?
And lastly, I only use a single monitor at 1080x1920, could anyone recommend a card that will support 3D and let me play everything out there today with max settings? I'm thinking the GTX580 would be a good choice, but any input would be awesome.
Thanks
