Issue to run powerdvd in 3D with a samsung PDP

Hello all,

I got a new plasma tv (PS C490) but I cannot turn in 3D checkerboard :(
The issue is that only 2D->3D, BS and top-bottom options are available from the 3D menu.
And powerdvd outputs only a checkerboard format.
Also, games on my pc used to look better to me with checkerboard (on my previous tv). I am using tridef drivers.

Of course, I tried many resolutions and frequencies but does not change anything :(

My card is a GTS 240 and I upgraded the drivers to the latest version, still without results.
The output connector of the card is DVI and there's a converter to plug in a HDMI cable. On the TV, it's directly connected to a HDMI connector.

Any idea of what could be set wrongly?

ps : everything is OK with a PS3 in full auto

If the TV supported it, wouldn't it just be in the same menu with side-by-side and top-bottom?

Hello,

I found the answer on a french forum:
- the PC must be connected via HDMI/DVI (HDMI1) on the TV
- the source name must be renamed to "PC" via the "source->tools->modify name" function.

The 2nd step is the trick: all the 3D output options appear and I can go with checkerboard :)
Which is, I confirm, much better than SBS.

But now I must find out how to use a HDMI 1.4 page flipping output from the PC for watching a BR cos I clearly see the drop in resolution.

Aha, too late on this one. Did you happen to find the solution on tls3D ? ;)

And what is exactly your problem with Blu-Ray 3D ?

Hello,

I don't know how to output in a hdmi 1.4 format from my PC :(
I have a GTS 240 with the latest drivers.
According to the page here http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision- ... ments.html, my card is not supported. So that's the issue I guess.
The GT 240 is supported. I thought it was the same :/

I'll have to find a solution to play isos on my ps3, to avoid the decrease in resolution with the PC :(
Cos I don't plan to purchase a new card just for this...

ps : I was on hcfr, on the topic about htpcs

Did you try other Blu-Ray 3D players beside PowerDVD 10 Ultra 3D ? There are at least four other such softwares for Windows :
- Corel WinDVD Pro 2010 ;
- Roxio CinePlayer® BD with 3D ;
- TotalMedia Theatre 3 ;
- TotalMedia Theatre 5.

PowerDVD 10 is a real resource hog, even if you have the hardware decoder. I know Total Media Theater 3 somewhat works without the decoder GPU assuming you have a really fast machine.
