Here is the 1st video I took with the Aiptek I2, you will notice it is all shot from a tripod
and there are no pans or zooms (because the video looks choppy when the camera is
moving) It is easy to use, carry and the auto stereo display is nice. But I think you will
at least have to use a monopod with it in order to get usable video. Feel free to ask questions.

The image from it looks really nice. Congratz on a good investment.

The movements of the plants look really choppy and the resolution does not look so nice, can you provide the initial video so we can judge it better ? Thanks.

Just saw the comments about this camera on the 3D Vision Blog, no need to provide a native video. This camera is a pile of junk considering the tests of those who have bought it.

yeah I'm slowly drifting to that conclusion. the choppy frame rate is unacceptable - I'd rather use my trusted minoru3d

What speed are the SDHC cards? Has anyone tried a class 4 or 6 card? Faster card=better framerate on most cams

The Minoru is not in the same league unfortunately, it's only a webcam that needs to be connected to a PC. It doesn't do HD either, the sensors are only 640x480.

true, true, but I'd rather choose 630*480 3d @ 30fps than 15-20fps 3d HD.

Nonethless: It's a decent piece, especially for the instep price of 200$. Imo you can't really have too high expectations then.

Who is selling this camera? Everyone is saying it is shipping but I went to Amazon and it says its not out yet. Even though it seems to have some framerate issues (and the general quality/color looks sub-par) I still want one. For $200 that is not bad with an auto-stereo screen. Maybe the issues can be fixed with different software or firmware.

@gamgamman: can you upload the original video somewhere, I would like to take a look.

Same here. You can upload to mtbs3d gallery which works for me. Upload is really slow though.

You know I was thinking: even if the video is low quality it could still be a decent 3D still camera. I do want something to take photos.

My thoughts too.

One guy said there was more yellow on one picture than the other, but I figure: Photoshop! :D

Good luck correcting differences in color/white balance with Photoshop...

If this camera has all the defects that have been mentionned by several buyers, it won't even make good still photos. Better make a 3D rig with Canon cameras for same/lower price or spare money for the Fuji W1.

Here are some anaglyph stills I found that were taken with the I2 ("3D HD Camcorder i2" according to the literature) http://www.flickr.com/photos/tanj3d/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Here is a file directly from the camera http://www.sendspace.com/file/gee42j
I was using a Patriot Class 10 SDHC, I have a Sandisk Extreme iii class 10 (30 mbps) coming soon I will try in it.
Keep in mind the clip was recorded using a tripod, if you don't like tripods or monopods you're not going to like this camera.
If you're on the fence about buying one, I say wait 6 months. I'm sure the price will drop sometime after Christmas.

hmm I wonder if the faster SDHC will have an impact on the frame rate.

why? can you provide a clip where you move the camera around without a tripod?

also, is it possible to decrease the resolution in the settings? maybe that'll help the frame rate.

Thanks for uploading some raw footage. I will be honest, it looks really pixelated and choppy. For some reason though I still want to get one to try it out for myself. Might be good enough for YouTube. Plus I could probably sell it pretty easy if I don't like it.

Yuri - no idea if a better SDHC card will change anything, will report when I test
No tripod clip from the I2 http://www.sendspace.com/file/jof29m Yes that is the Acer 5738DG ;)
You can get the I2 manual here http://www.aiptek.eu/index.php?option=c ... Itemid=587
If you look at the manual you will see that what the user can change is pretty limited, you can change TV flicker from 50 to 60 hz
which I believe changes frame rate from 25 to 30 fps. Anyone know how to hack Aiptek firmware?

Cyber - I was the same way, I wanted to try it for myself. I do think it's good enough for You Tube (if used properly), but it isn't pro quality by any stretch of the imagination. The Fuji W3 has just been announced for September (720p video & $499 US price tag) one more thing to consider. Doing searches on You Tube for "aiptek yt3d" brings up more everyday
Using stabilizing plugin with virtualdub http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjYSLHy8C0Q
A couple of hand held videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yak8y8ZkIbs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTaa3Mi4lYI

The shot where the father and kid are getting a drink from the drinking fountain was brillant!

And I liked the closing shot of the fountains.
:D

Thanks for sharing!

PS. I'm talking about artistic shot choices not the camera's output quality.

You know what. After seeing those latest videos I think I might have to pass on this camera. The panning shots looked horrible. The framerate is not only low, but inconsistent. You could notice it the most on the last fountain shot. Man so bad. Its really too bad because I really wanted something in the $200 range. I guess I could get that new W3 but I didn't want to spend $500. I could always just stick with my dual cam rig, which is nice quality, but just a hassle I could live without. I wish there were some more options here.

@Wheatstone - Yeah that guy has 2 good eyes!

@Cyber - I hear ya, if the I2 sells well, perhaps the 2nd Gen version will address some of it's short comings. FYI the W3 video will be full 720p for each eye @ 24 fps. I just wish the W3 had moved the flash from between the lenses, that double shadow is annoying to me.
