Panasonic Plasma + shutter glasses

Post by NITRO1250 »

Yes, I'm not quite giving up. I don't want to dirty the nvidia thread talking about non nvidia stuff, so I'm moving here.

Anyway, I heard that plasma displays (new ones) are seemingly shutter glasses ready. I'm just concerned about which glasses work with plasma. Do the nvidia ones work? (probably not, but I thought I'd ask)

I was looking at this TV: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6889187115" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think I have everything thought out. As I'm going to be using this as a primary monitor, I made sure that the burn in problems in plasmas were sorted out, and they are. Even bulb dimming.

Now for the nitty griddy, is this going to work for 3D? I'm looking for something to be a home theater system for 3D, gaming station, and PC station. All in one basically.

Thoughts/help?

600Hz, yeah ok...

Sorry but it WILL NOT WORK. The Screen is 60Hz on Inputs

*sigh*

Oh well, so much for hoping for a large screen 3D setup in my room.

I may as well just get a 32-in LCD HDTV as my primary monitor and hoof it with no 3D for a while.

I got curious about plasma when I saw this product from Samsung: http://www.samsung.com/us/consumer/acce ... type=3dkit#" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Wait, don't give up.

Passive Projection is a step up from a LCD/Plasma and around the same price mark... (2x720p's)
Not to mention it will fill your wall and create a more immersive 3D experience.

720p... hmm... that would be a step down in resolution... But, I don't have a wall to project on with polar unfortunately.

The Samsung 450-series plasmas are 3D-ready, but they are only 720p. (1024x768 for the 42-inch, 1360/1366x768 for the 50-inch) Samsung promoted the 3D-ready feature for the 2008 models (PN42A450, PN50A450), but stopped mentioning it with the 2009 models (PN42B450, PN50B450); however I've seen the 3D-sync port on PN42B450 and it is mentioned in the manual. Double-check to be sure before you get a PNxxB450.

Those are the only plasmas (so far) that are 3D-ready.
