Basic set up guide - come one help out the newbies

Post by stealth »

Hi all, firstly thankyou to the creators and contributors to this community, i'm glad 3d gaming has started to get some recognition and organisation

I really need some overview information and confirmation of a few things,

I'm sorry if this info is on the forums somewhere and i've missed it,

I recently purchased the E dimensional glasses, ( wireless ) for my current set up which is,

AMD Processor single core
8800 gtx graphics
2gb crucial ram

Dell 3007 LCD monitor
Benq DLP projector - I plan to use the projector for the 3D gaming,

How i've set it up so far,

Well i ditched the LCD dell screen as it only accepts DVI, and opted for the projector,

I've installed the E dimensional 3d driver and the other small exe program
they offer,

I have had limited results on the TEST screen picture, but only when i use the reverse setting and even then the 3d effect seems to phase in and out, as if the timing goes out of sync, or the glasses.

I know the following from this site and reading

1, the 8800 gtx and the stero drivers by Nvidia don't work really that well, if at all,

2, Lcd's don't work very well with shutter glasses , or am i wrong ?

I have the following questions

1, What drivers / forceware should i be using for my graphics card ?

2, What 3d driver should i use ?

3, Has anyone had good reults from using a similar set up ?

4, Does Arma work well in 3d ?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

hi!

1, What drivers / forceware should i be using for my graphics card ?

- actually noone is working with shutterglasses! the best thing you can do for now is to install the lastes forceware drivers (162.18 NOT beta [came out yesterday]) and write in the advocacy section to accelerate the outcoming of a working stereodriver.

2, What 3d driver should i use ?

- read above. :)

3, Has anyone had good reults from using a similar set up ?

- no. the only GOOD results with this graphics card has been had with an iz3D monitor.

4, Does Arma work well in 3d ?

-don't know. you culd connect it with the first question, and ask them if the game has mtbs certification! :)

bye

Hi
You can use Your 7600 card and the projector and the eDimensional glasses. I've made a driver install guide here:
www.3d.wep.dk/driverguide.html
ArmA works in 3D but You have to disable "Shadow detail" - the shadows looks odd.
Good luck :D
