Is Driver 425.31 universal? For all cards? It's no longer downloadable...

Post by P.C.Zen »

Driver 425.31 is no longer downloadable from Nvidia.

I have a copy of it I downloaded for my GTX 970 but will it work with other cards?

...or are there different versions of 425.31 for the different cards?

What happens when the RTX 3000 series cards are released? Will the same driver work for those?

Edit:

Okay, so, to continue a long tradition of answering my own questions shortly after posting them...

...I just googled 425.31 and guess what came up:

So...it seems it's the same file for all of the above cards. Hopefully it'll work with the RTX 3000 series also.

425.31 does NOT work for newer version graphics cards like the SUPER cards - they need the BringBack3DV driver mod.
Dual boot VR/3D Vision disk partitioning (multiple SSDs). 3D Vision - Windows 10 v1809, 425.31 driver, 32 GB, i9-9900X@4.5 GHz, hybrid-cooled 2080Ti, 4K LG E6 OLED TV with EDID. VR/geo-11 - 3080Ti with Vive Pro 2, also have Aero, wireless lens-modified Vive Pro, Index, Reverb G2, Pimax 8K.

Wow, thanks for the heads up!

So the 2000 series refresh (Super cards) don't work with 425.31 and so maybe/probably the 3000 series won't either.

Looking back at the list of supported cards the Super cards aren't on there; I hadn't noticed that. I need to keep my reading glasses to hand.

What's the situation with the patched drivers now. Are there still games you just have to have the 425.31 driver for?
